Sikham

Roudhah Al Mazrouei in collaboration with Rattha Studio

2025

Sikham stands as a testament to the nation’s heritage and deep connection with nature. The 7 meter monolith functions as a wind tower, drawing inspiration from the traditional material sikham. Honoring the ancient art of creating charcoal from Samra and Sidr trees, the piece integrates traditional practices with modern artistic expression to preserve local environmental and agricultural knowledge from bedouin practices.

Its name derives from “sikhama” referring to the blackened bottom of a cooking pot.
